This was a very big night for Fermoy Scout Group and was supported by the top people in Scouting Ireland, the Chief Scout, the Mayor of Fermoy, commissioners and special guests,  all of whom we thank most sincerely for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend.  The stars of the night and those who shone the brightest were the young members of ScoutingFermoy.  Scouts, Ventures and Rovers left their inhibitions and shyness at the door and delivered a very professional awards night ceremony, which included  investitures, ICU certification, bronze Gaisce, the Chief Scout commendation award, and the ultimate achievement for any scout -- the Chief Scout Award itself.  All of our youth members either presented with speeches or received with an understated confidence which supports the belief  in Fermoy that scouting has a very positive influence on our youth.

Last night leaders from Fermoy scout group left their neckerchief’s at home and met at a local debating establishment.    It was a welcome opportunity to relax, share a joke and chat amongst ourselves for a bit about things outside of scouting.  That said we had one important piece of business to conduct before the end of the night.  Ken Barry known far and wide as a Fermoy scouter is in his 20th year of service and the occasion was notably marked by a special presentation made by Dave Bartley on behalf of Fermoy scout group.

The draw was made on Wednesday 30th November for our extra prize in this year’s 12 Days of Christmas raffle. The special festive hamper was put together by Eadaoin and displayed in the Fermoy Credit Union window.  The winner was Kevin Baker, son of well known Fermoy man Terry Baker. On Friday 2nd December Terry, representing his son who was working at the time, was presented with the hamper by James O’Donoghue, Group Leader, at the scout meeting.  Also there on the night was proud Cub Scout Roisin who was the lucky ticket seller. There are 12 more draws to be made so hold on to those tickets.  Many thanks to all those who helped out on the day and to all those who bought tickets, we wish you the very best of luck in the remaining draws.  A special word of thanks is sent to Fermoy Credit Union for allowing us to display the hamper prior to the draw.
