Beavers on Parade
Fermoy Beavers were out in force in this year’s St. Patricks Day parade. Good weather helped enormously in making it a day that they should remember for a long time to come. The Chief Scout made a special effort to welcome them saying a few well chosen words of encouragement on how good they looked waving their specially designed One Programme flags. He also took a moment to stand in with some old friends from Fermoy Scout Group and with beaver leaders, for some photographs prior to the parade.
The beaver leaders went all out this year so that our youngest members would enjoy their parade as much as possible. One leader in particular looked spectacular dressed from head to toe in a leprechaun costume. Well done to one and all; and it was great to see the leaders getting into the spirit of things and having as much fun as the beavers. Roll on next year and who knows what the leaders will get up to!
Beaver Investiture
The Beaver Scout Investiture Ceremony plays an important part in the life of the Fermoy Colony. It marks a significant moment for the individual Beaver Scout and creates a sense of belonging and pride in their colony. The leaders go to great lengths to make it a very special occasion inviting parents and siblings to attend the meeting.
The ceremony starts with the leaders asking the Beavers to place their left hand on the Scouting Ireland emblem flag and to make the scout sign with their right hand. Then the beavers recite their promise followed by the placing of the kneckerchief around the neck of the newly invested beaver.
The beaver scout is now officially part of the colony and group and has taken the first steps in what we hope is a long and rewarding scouting experience. They have also become part of the worldwide organisation of scouting which has in excess of 30 million scouts spread across 161 countries from Albania to Zimbabwe. We as leaders wish each and every new beaver the very best on what can be a life of adventure through scouting.

Halloween Party 2010

Every year, the Beavers in Fermoy eagerly await the annual Halloween party. This is usually held in the Scout hall. The leaders spent a lot of time prior to the event decorating the hall and the entrance area outside the front door with every conceivable piece of Halloween decoration possible. This created a fantastic party atmosphere for the Beavers and leaders alike.
