Cub Melleray Weekend 2011
Over 100 cubs travelled to Mount Melleray last weekend from the county. This is an annual event and all the Fermoy cubs eagerly look forward to it every year. The theme for this year’s event was welcome to the world and all the activities were based on this. We arrived at 8 o’clock on Friday and followed our leaders who showed us to our dorms for the weekend. After we got settled we played some games with the other cubs from the county and then it was time for supper followed by a movie and lights out at 12:30am. As soon as the lights went out the torches went on and the fun and stories went on for another hour.
We were called at 8 o’clock on Saturday morning for breakfast. We spent the day being challenged by loads of bases all of them were based on the new one programme. At 10pm we had a massive campfire where we sang loads of campfire songs. After that it was time for some well earned sleep. Sunday morning we played games and then we all got soaked through at the big water fight. After that we did a cleanup changed into our uniform and went to the closing ceremony. It was so cool to be a cub in Melleray last weekend.

Kilworth 2011
Fermoy Cubs attended the recent Quiz held in Kilworth National School. We had a lot of interest from the cubs for this year’s event so much so that we had 4 teams eager to compete. We arrived in Kilworth early and the cubs took the time to familiarise themselves with the running order of the challenges. They all had a great time in the morning playing on the bases and doing very well on the challenges. The afternoon was a more serious affair with the county cub groups going head to head in a table quiz. Our 4 teams faired very well across the board and we all learnt something new for the next outing.
Cub Investiture
10 Cubs were recently invested at the cub meeting at Fermoy Scout den.– Roisin, Sean, Luke, Caoimhe, Luke, Cian, Eoin, Liam, Roisin and Aidan. Family and friends were asked to come along and support them on such an important night. It can be a very daunting occasion for a young cub and with that in mind all the leaders try to and make it a family orientated and relaxed event. The new cubs picked up on this and recited their promise without hesitation. The leaders then asked their parents to put on their kneckerchief and everyone welcomed the newly invested cubs to the section. Refreshments were then served to the delight of the older cubs. We congratulate all the newly invested cubs and wish them long and happy memories of their time spent with us here at ScoutingFermoy.
